Vail was founded on the very idea of family fun. With raft trips, mountain biking, nature hikes and fly fishing, kids will be out in the Vail sunshine - enjoying the fresh air and learning as they have fun.

Winter KidVentures programs

KidVentures are activities specifically designed to please our guests 5 to 12 years of age! A full evening of scheduled supervised activities are available from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. KidVentures will begin and end each evening at the the Sonnenalp Resort front desk. For Sonnenalp guests, each night includes our designated fun activity and dinner for a nominal fee.

Tubing - Thursday

Slip-n-slidin’ away at Adventure Ridge! This tubing paradise is just a gondola ride away. They have multi lane tubing hills with easy lift access for multiple runs. This activity has a minimum height of 36 inches.

Registration and Cancellations

Please register with the Concierge Desk by 8 p.m. the evening before your desired activity. Cancellations after 8 p.m. will be charged the full amount.

Sick policy:

If a child is sick, please contact the concierge by 7:30 am. If a child becomes sick during the day, a staff member will contact the parent.

What to bring:

Dress as though you were going skiing or tubing. Bring goggles for tubing and wear hats, gloves, and warm boots.

Summer KidVentures

Sonnenalp KidVentures are activities specially designed to please our guests from 5 to 12 years of age! They are a full day of scheduled activities, requiring only a nominal fee for use of our outside vendors. KidVentures options include transportation, supervision activities and meals. Our programs operate from 9:00am – 3:00pm. Our evening programs operate from 5:30pm – 9:00pm. Kids must sign up or cancel by 8:00pm the evening before their desired KidVentures program or they will be charged the total amount. KidVentures will begin and end each day at the Sonnenalp Resort of Vail lobby.

Bike Tour (Tuesday 1:00 - 2:00pm)

Fee $30
Enjoy a leisure bike ride from the Sonnenalp to West Vail on the Recreation Path. We will coast down to West Vail and back. Round trip will be 4 miles. It should take approximately an hour. Activity includes supervision, bike, and water bottle.
Ages: 5-12.

Raft Riders (Wednesday)

Upper Colorado Class II
Fee $120
Attention river rats! A van will take us to the Upper Colorado River where we’ll spend the day. This section of river is very remote and peaceful stretch of river. We will raft the Upper Colorado with swimming, water fights, snacks, etc. It will be a lot of fun for the kids. Trip includes supervision, transportation, snack, rafting and appropriate gear. Lunch will be served in the Bully Ranch following the activity.
Ages: 6-12.

Shoshone Rapids III
Fee $150
The Shoshone run passes through one of the most beautiful canyons in the west. Rock walls tower above the river and hot springs abound in the lower section. Trip includes supervision, transportation, BBQ lunch rafting and appropriate gear.
Ages: 6-12. Minimum weight of 50 lbs.

Train Ride & Silver Mine Tour (Thursday)

Fee $100
Eureka! In Georgetown we’ll climb aboard one of the
country’s oldest steam locomotives for a train ride on
a spectacular loop through colorful Colorado Scenery.
Next, we’ll go 1,000 feet underground exploring a
silver mine from yesteryear. Includes supervision,
transportation, lunch, train and mine tour.
Ages: 5 and older.

T-Shirt Coloring (Thursday)

Fee $20
Color the afternoon away on your very own Sonnenalp T-shirt.
Ages: 3 and older.

Jolly Ranchers (Friday)

Fee $100
Yipee-ki-yea buckaroo! A 45 minute drive takes us
to the Piney River Ranch. There are a variety of
activities for the children to engage in. Hiking,
horseback riding, pony rides are just a few of the
wonderful experience available at PRR. Includes
supervision, transportation, lunch and ranch fun.
(horseback riding requires a minimum age of 7
and advanced sign up. There is an additional fee
not included of $60).
Ages: 5 and older

Glenwood Adventure Park (Saturday)

Fee $100
Come and enjoy spectacular views while riding the Iron Mountain Tramway. Take a guided walking tour of the Glenwood Caverns where you will see amazing formations. Play on the new thrill rides-the Canyon Flyer, Alpine rush, Swing Shot, and the 32-foot climbing wall. Includes, supervision, transportation, lunch and a minimum of 2-3 activities.

KidVentures at Night

Beaver Creek Rodeo (Thursday)

Fee $100
YeeeHaaww! After a complete outdoor barbecue
we’ll watch the rodeo events which include bull
riding, barrel racing, team roping and bronco
busting. It’s a full evening of cowboy fun ! Includes
supervision, transportation, dinner and rodeo.
Ages: 5 and older

Bowling Extravaganza (Friday)

Fee $100
The Back Bowl offers the most advanced bowling technology available today, 20 lanes with fully automatic, computerized scoring systems, valet ball and shoe service and special lighting effects to really energize the bowling experience. Includes supervision, transportation, dinner and bowling.
Ages: 5 and older.
